Update on Johnny Gargano contract situation

More news has come out regarding Johnny Wrestling's contract status

Update on Johnny Gargano contract situation

As we reported earlier in the week, Johnny Gargano's WWE contract is due to expire on December 3rd, making him a free agent and putting him in a powerful position to negotiate a good deal elsewhere.

However his situation has now changed... Albeit only slightly.

Fightful.com are reporting that Johnny has signed a one week extension to his current contract to allow him to compete at NXT War Games, meaning his contract now expires on December 10th. This situation is not too dissimilar to the one faced by Adam Cole when he signed a short extension in order to complete his feud with Kyle O'Reilly before moving on to AEW.

WWE are hoping to strike a further agreement with the first NXT Triple Crown Champion, as he is one of their biggest stars on the brand.

If WWE were to lose another big name star in the same manner they lost Adam Cole, it could represent a big shift in the way WWE do their business as they will not want to continually lose their top names in the same manner.

As for Johnny, the world would be his oyster. His name value has skyrocketed since his initial days in NXT teaming with Tommaso Ciampa. A former NXT Champion, NXT Tag Team Champion, and record 3-time NXT North American Champion, he would have no shortage of suitors.

Where do you see Johnny ending up? Do you think he will sign a new deal with WWE or head for pastures new? Let us know in the comments!
