Shocking Title Change on NXT, Ghostface Unmasks
In a shocking twist on this weeks NXT, Johnny Gargano opened the show and stated that he believed his previous title reigns were cursed, and that to break the curse he would spin the wheel to select his first challenger for the NXT North American Championship.
As the clearly rigged wheel spun, it stopped on Leon Ruff. Gargano dominated and toyed with Ruff for the majority of the match, but with Damian Priest watching on from ringside, Johnny was distracted by the Archer of Infamy when he approached the ring. This momentary distraction was all that Ruff needed as he nailed Gargano with a Crucifix Driver to become the New NXT North American Champion!
Also on the show, Candice LeRae beat former NXT U.K. Women's Champion Toni Storm, albeit by using the ropes for leverage. After the match an irate Storm attacked LeRae, but the mysterious Ghostface appeared to save LeRae and make it a two on one. Shotzi Blackheart ran down to make the save but LeRae and Ghostface were able to clear house.
With Storm and Blackheart beaten down, Ghostface removed their mask to reveal it was none other than Indi Hartwell.
Elsewhere on the card, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch successfully defended their newly won NXT Tag Team Championships in a rematch against former champions, Breezango, Santos Escobar was able to retain the Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship by defeating Jake Atlas, and we were informed that next week there would be an update on Finn Balor and his status as NXT Champion.
