ROH to concentrate on non-contracted talent once they return
Based on the announcement from ROH a couple of days ago stating that they will be taking a brief hiatus for the rest of 2021 and will return in early 2022, a report from Wrestling Observers Dave Meltzer states that ROH will essentially become an indie promotion and the talent will be booked as and when they hold TV tapings as well as PPVs.
It's worth noting that since ROH will be relying less on contracted talent in the near future, this could lead to some serious issues further down the line, especially when it comes to which wrestlers are holding titles at the present time.
The promotion has taken steps to release all the contracted talent, with the majority of releases coming into effect at the end of 2021. Stars who have deals that go beyond January 1, 2022 will reportedly be paid up until March 2022.
Followng the shock announcement of the hiatus, all ROH TV shows and live events have been put on hold once they have set all their affairs in order.
ROH are expected to return in April with a Supercard of Honor event in Dallas which has reportedly already been booked for the show.
