There was a title change at tonight’s SmackDown taping after a series of two matches were taped for upcoming episodes of WWE Speed.
With a first match between Andrade and Tommaso Ciampa ending with Andrade picking up the win, he earned a title shot at Ricochet for the WWE Speed Championship.
In a second match for the taping, Andrade took on Ricochet and won to become the new WWE Speed Champion.
Ricochet was the inaugural WWE Speed Champion, which makes Andrade the second holder of the title.
Ricochet recently explained that the title belt is exclusive to Twitter/X, which is why he hasn’t been wearing it on WWE Raw despite being referred to as the champion.
Speed matches have a three or five-minute time limit, usually with one match per ‘episode’ being posted by WWE every Wednesday.
The matches are usually taped before or after episodes of Raw and SmackDown.
This past week’s airing saw Andrade pick up a win over Karl Anderson.
