A strange title change that appeared pretty questionable on Raw looks to have now been officially addressed by WWE.
On last night’s Raw, the situation with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship was addressed after Sonya Deville revealed a week ago that she’d suffered a torn ACL.
A torn ACL will likely keep Sonya Deville out for between six months and a year, meaning something had to be done as she and Chelsea Green were tag team champions.
Over the weekend, Chelsea Green took to social media to host what she called “Chelsea’s Got Talent”, where people sent in auditions to be her new partner.
This isn’t something that carried over onto TV although it was mentioned, as there was a segment on Raw with Chelsea Green and Adam Pearce.
As Chelsea Green and Adam Pearce argued about what to do, another tag team, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, walked in.
It wasn’t long before Kayden Carter and Katana Chance were attacked from behind by a returning Piper Niven, who took it upon herself to TELL Chelsea Green that she was Chelsea Green’s new tag team champion partner.
While Chelsea Green didn’t exactly do anything to stop Piper Niven, she wasn’t happy about it, leading to the question mark of whether the change was actually ‘official’.
Well, following Raw, WWE.com has been updated, with Chelsea Green and Piper Niven now officially listed as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, so there you go.
