WWE NXT Deadline Match Changed Due To Injury

North American championship match at the next WWE NXT Premium Live Event has been changed due to unforeseen circumstances.

The match originally planned for the show would see Wes Lee challenge Dominik Mysterio for the North American Championship, with Wes Lee hoping to win back the title that Dominik Mysterio originally snatched away from him thanks to help from The Judgment Day. However, as announced on the December 5th show of NXT, Wes Lee is not cleared to compete.

An emotional Wes Lee made his way to the ring held up with a crutch and announced that he would require back surgery, putting him on the shelf indefinitely. It was later announced on commentary that the former North American Champion would be out for 8-12 months.

The announcement was interrupted by Dominik Mysterio, who mocked Wes Lee and his injury. Dominik Mysterio would then assume that he would have the night off at the upcoming Premium Live Event. However, this assumption was corrected by Wes Lee, who informed Dominik Mysterio that someone close to him had news.

Replacement Announced For WWE NXT Deadline

Rey Mysterio appeared on the big screen and announced that his son would not be having the night off. The Hall of Famer confirmed that he would be at Deadline and would be in the corner of the new challenger, Dragon Lee. The video cut off and Dragon Lee’s music hit to the delight of the live crowd in attendance. Dragon Lee attacked Dominik Mysterio but the North American Champion escaped out of the ring as the Luchador stood tall to close out the segment. Dragon Lee previously challenged Dominik Mysterio for the title on an episode of Raw but was unsuccessful.
