Walk with Discovery on Sunday, July 14th 2024 - Portobello Town Hall, Near Edinburgh.

I arrived at the Portobello Town Hall with my friend Jamie Murray, and the queue was long.

Great to see the local show supported and I walked into the hall, and took my seat near the entranceway and close to the ring.

Opening Match

Match 1 - Y-Division Championship - Leon Slater(C) vs Ravie Davie

Pre match they try to out do each other and then Ravie hits Leon and the match is on.

The match went back and forth, both trying to get the advantage. Both try various moves to keep the advantage.

Slater is making the first defence of his championship, after beating Gene Munney. At the last portobello sh

Slater hits his big round the world bomb but Davie kicks out.

Then the champ later hits the 450 senton splash to pin the gallant challenger.

Superb Opening Title Match.

Now we get the Big Strong Man, who comes out and complains about not being on the show.

Then Cowboy Conrad comes out to a great reception, and after things get said to each other,  we have an impromptu bonus match on the card.

Match 2 - Cowboy Conrad Vs Big Strong Man

Conrad dominated the event and every time the big strong man tried to gather offences, Conrad had him.

Conrad uses a double handle to the body to finish off his opponent, coming off the ropes.

Decent Second match of the show for me.

Match 3 - Disco Wrestling Tag Team Championship - Skol Bro(Aspen Faith & Caleb Valhalla) Vs The Foundation(Brad Evans & Ryan Riley)

Big boys wrestling as the champions defend for the first time.

The Aberdeen duo dominate the opening exchanges and the champions come into the match more when Caleb dominates to give Aspen a break.

A great suplex/powerslam combo brought a 2 count for the challengers. Champions tried to rally but the challenger came close again, with a spike piledriver for a 2 count.

But the champions were able to retain as Caleb took Aspen on his back to his a splash and get the pinball.

Good hard hitting contest this one for me.

Match 4 was meant to be the women's title match, but Emersyn Jane was injured the night before.

So We got a triple threat match instead.

Match 4 - Women's Title No. 1 Contenders Triple Threat Match - Debbie Keitel vs Daisy Jenkins Vs Ashley Vega.

Vega and Keitel tried to work together against Jenkins, and had some success but mostly argued with each other and end fighting each other

Jenkins did get some momentum and was on top of Keitel & Vega, but it all came to nothing as Debbie Keitel used a pedigree to get the win and stay the No. 1 contender for the women's title.

The Rish Firecracker And OTT Women's Champion, Keitel won and was superb for me. Overall good women's match

Match 5 - We then got a traditional discovery Wrestling Fatal Four Way - The Wanderer Faces TV'  Umar Mohammed, Connor Molloy and "The Supreme Ryan Richards.

Some great moves in and out of the ring by all 4 competitors with the action going in and out of the ring.

Conor Molloy thought he had the win but Ryan Richards threw him off the pin and pinned Mohammed to get the win

Decent Fatal four way match before the raffle and main event match.

The raffle was to be done by DiscoFry but was attacked by James Erdos & Thatcher Wright and another guy. He was saved by Rob Mills.

Match 6 - Main Event Time - The Good Times (Monstrum & Rob Stowe) & Disco Wrestling Scottish Openweight Champion Judas Grey Vs Joe Hendry, Adam Maxted & Elijah.

This started with both teams trying to get the advantage, And it was Henry's Team who dominated the early stages until Monstrum had Hendry on the mat, then in the corner so  Stowe and Grey

But it ended out the ring for a bit then back in the ring, Maxted hits two spine busters on Grey & Monstrum, and then it was Elijah who used a spinning suplex to get the win.

Overall thoughts - it was a good event, unfortunately, Emersyn Jayne couldn't defend her championship, But has Debbie Keitel to contend with, at a future show, who will be next for Leon Slater & The Discovery Wrestling Y-Division Championship?

No word yet on a date for the next show, but more than likely to be in Portobello again.

Thank you to Craig Gordon for the review
