Triple H has commented for the first time after the return of CM Punk at WWE Survivor Series 2023 tonight.
Punk’s return didn’t leak to news outlets beforehand and was a genuine surprise.
Speaking in the post-Survivor Series press conference, Paul Levesque (Triple H) had some notes about his perspective of CM Punk returning.
He said it was very much “lightning in the bottle” and it “came together very quickly”.
He said it’s been “a long time coming”, and whether people love or hate Punk, they’re always talking about him, and “it’s tough to look past that”.
He added: “If our fans want it, let’s go… we’ll figure out the rest from there”.
Perhaps referring to previous issues between the two, Triple H said: “A lot of time has gone by, everybody grows, everybody changes, I’m a different person, he’s a different person, this is a different company” and everyone’s “on the same even starting ground”.
Triple H said that there was “zero push” from anyone other than WWE themselves and even people high up in TKO would be shocked by it.
He said it was a decision made by him and Nick Khan, and “very few people knew past that”.
He noted that the WWE team is very much trusted to do their thing, and this was an example.
