TNA News, Kushida, Jody Threat, AEW Notes

We at Real Rasslin have come to learn.

We've heard that TNA does have multiple signings that are likely to be revealed in upcoming weeks

- Elijah Burke aka The Pope was backstage at AEW Dynamite this week in Jacksonville, as he is from the area.

- Fightful will have an interview with indie wrestler Emily Jaye next week. She makes her on-screen debut for ROH tonight. The interview was filmed at WrestleCade, ahead of the debut.

- We are now planning our Fightful Awards for Wednesday, January 31 at 6 PM ET.  We'd planned for February 4, but NXT Vengeance Day takes place that day.

Says Vikingo is the top guy in lucha libre and Sabin is a great technician. Is looking forward to facing them at TNA Hard to Kill.

Surprised he got to face Steve Maclin at Rebellion 2023. Has had a good relationship with Maclin since their days in NXT. Would like another chance at the IMPACT Championship.

Says there was no demand for him to wrestle at heavyweight in NJPW, but there is demand in the US.

Hasn’t spoken to Kazuchika Okada about differences in TNA/IMPACT, but says Okada has lived in Orlando and he talked to Okada about Orlando when he signed with WWE.

Thinks round robin format can hold interest in TV viewership.

Would like El Desperado in TNA.

Says he always misses Japan and would like to compete in Japan, but hasn’t had many offers. Thinks he can do a lot of things with Kevin Knight in both tag divisions.

Visited Scott D’Amore in 2009 and was looking for an opportunity. He wanted to tryout with TNA, but it never happened. He loved Motor City Machine Guns.

Says Frankie Kazarian has the best fashion in TNA.

“Tim Horton’s has the best coffee.”

Always goes to Tommy Dreamer for advice in TNA.

Looking forward to facing Lio Rush against because he kicked him in the nuts last time.

Back to the Future 2 is his favorite, but he likes them all.

Jody Threat appeared on In The Weeds Wednesday Ahead Of TNA Hard To Kill

- Her preparation for the Knockouts Ultimate X match includes a lot of upper body strength, and she was excellent on the monkey bars as a young child.

-

- She sought advice from Alex Shelley and Josh Alexander for Ultimate X, and they told her to focus on getting the X, but that this match is in her ballpark, a wild match.

-

- Jody mentions working on her acting abilities, including on-screen with TNA/IMPACT, especially in her story with KiLynn King, where King accused Threat of injuring Taylor Wilde.

-

- Threat also mentions her IPWF character debut, “The Red Letter” allowing her to try something new and try a new character.

- Following up on The Red Letter character, Jody notes that TNA creative presented her the character and she was happy to run with it.

-

- On her match with Alisha Edwards at Final Resolution, Jody puts over the match and discusses training at the Don Kolov Arena (where the event took place), standing up for her training roots and getting the win.

-

- Asked about TNA’s intergender matches and the perception of the Knockouts division versus the men’s divisions, Threat says that the Knockouts division is not considered second place at all, they feel equal to the men and that the respect is there when it comes to storylines and match quality.

- She says that the entire locker room values equity and equality, and that it’s not just a feeling from management.

-

- Jody will be debuting new gear at Hard To Kill

- She didn’t watch wrestling growing up, so she binge watched over the years. She did binge TNA and loves the nostalgia that the rebrand brings.

- As a Torontonian, she bought a wide shovel in time for the winter, got a good deal from Canadian Tire. Joel and Jody discuss humidifiers.

-

- When asked about KUSHIDA’s love for Tim Hortons, Jody Threat compares Tim’s to Dunkin Donuts in the US, saying Tim’s is lowest on her list of cheap coffee, with McDonald’s being the highest. Jody plans to show KUSHIDA good coffee spots when TNA returns to Windsor, Ontario in March.

- Finally, Ultimate X features 3 tenured and 3 new TNA Knockouts. When asked if that will play into strategy, Jody says she’ll feel it out, that she’s never been in a ring with Tasha Steelz, but Threat has the size advantage along with her BFF Dani Luna.
