A strap match featuring WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat has been teased for this Sunday’s AEW All Out 2023 pay-per-view in Chicago.
With just one week between All In and All Out, a lot of the All Out card is only being set up and announced during this week.
This meant several new matches were added on Dynamite tonight, and now a potential addition is being teased for Collision too.
Tony Khan just tweeted, after Dynamite, that Collision will see Ricky Starks “challenge” Ricky Steamboat to a strap match for All Out.
The verbiage is clear that the match isn’t official, but Ricky Starks will “challenge” Ricky Steamboat to accept it.
This comes a few weeks after Ricky Starks attacked Ricky Steamboat with his belt after Ricky Starks lost to CM Punk in a match which Ricky Steamboat was the special backup referee for it.
In a normal world, you’d think this “challenge” would maybe lead to CM Punk coming out in his hometown and telling Ricky Starks it isn’t going to happen, and setting up CM Punk vs Ricky Starks for the pay-per-view instead.
But boys and girls, we do not live in a normal world, and CM Punk was just suspended by AEW after a backstage altercation between him and Jack Perry at All In.
As we’ve mentioned multiple times now, it’s not known how long the suspension will last, and therefore we can’t say for sure whether CM Punk will miss Collision and All Out – his suspension could be over by then, or there could be a special exemption of some kind to facilitate him being at Collision and All Out in his hometown. Or it could also be that neither of those things will happen and he simply won’t be involved.
We’ll keep you updated on any developments as news comes to light, but the segment announced for Collision is Ricky Starks challenging Ricky Steamboat to a strap match for All Out.
