WWE star Randy Orton has commented on being told by doctors that he may never wrestle again ahead of an upcoming title bout.
In speaking to the Independent, Randy Orton reflected on his road back to the ring after major surgery.
The return however wasn’t certain with Orton noting he had been told he may not be able to make a comeback to in-ring action.
Orton said:
“[Being] told I’d never wrestle again, that kind of sent me into a tailspin. It was very depressing being at home and not knowing what my future held. It took a long time for me to get out of that funk. I thought my career was over after the surgery. It was tough to recoup from that, to spiritually recover.
“However, Orton would go on to say that after he had been working hard at rehab, he realized that he was able to strengthen his back for the first time in a long time.”
Orton said:
“I was able to do things in the gym that I hadn’t done since I was in my 20s, and since I had my back fixed, I was able to strengthen it. That gave me new life. That gave me stability – almost like body armour, so to speak, that I had never had before.
“Ever since I had my back fused, it’s like a new lease on life… I believe this is the biggest match I’ve had since returning. You know, it’s crazy to say, but I feel like I’m still in my prime in the profession that I’m in. That really excites me.”
Randy Orton is set for a major match at this Saturday’s premium live event, WWE Bash in Berlin.
Orton is set to face off against World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER in Berlin, Germany in a match for the title.
