AEW debutes in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. What an interesting sentence since AEW is in their fifth year as a company. On the car is a Global Glory 4-Way match. Seemingly just a fatal four way with participants from four different countries. Chris Jericho is taking on Samoa Joe in a Street Fight. Danielson and Adam Page face off for the third time. The first was a 1 hour time limit draw in Dallas back in 2021. Then we are promised appearances by both Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay.
The live portion of the show kicks off with Elevated meaning Will Ospreay. Will obviously addresses MJF as the story seems to be pushing those two to face off at All In Wembley. I am not upset about that. I think Ospreay really loves to add a sexual component to his promos. Claiming more talent in his left nut than what MJF has in his whole body. Naughty, Naughty. MJF does not meet Ospreay in the ring. Bit of a new promo from MJF, saying that Ospreay is a flavor of the month and that differs from MJF who is a generational talent. A match is set for next week for the International Championship.
The wrinkle in this match is a special enforcer. Bryan Danielson is wearing some Hart Family inspired gear. Adam Page comes out the same side as Danielson and Jeff Jarrett is looking the opposite direction. I doubt that was a mistake. Adam Page is wrestling the aggressive brawler type he has been wrestling since he returned. Danielson is getting some offense in but showing signs be it real or a sell about his neck. Danielson gets bloodied and Hangman bangs Danielson's head into the stairs. No special enforcer seen. A tease of Danielson winning via submission is broken by Page putting his foot on the rope. The tides of the match looks to have turned in favor of the "Clam Digger" as Nigel McGuiness calls him. That looked like a rought landing on the German Suplex off the top rope. Danielson misses the dive to follow it up. Adam Page attempted to win with Danielson's own move. Hangman Adam Page removes the turnbuckle cover and slams Danielson's head into it. Tombstone gets a near fall for Page. The Last Outlaw Jeff Jarrett is slowly making his way to the ring. Danielson pulls out a springboard flip hitting Adam Page. Jeff finally gets involved by stopping an attack on Bryan Danielson. Page then shoves him. Danielson is looking bad while Paul Turner gets to an 8 count. Danielson hits a Busaiku Knee but cannot follow up. Jeff is then seen favoring Bryan Danielson. A series of reversals set up Paul Turner getting hit with a Busaiku knee. Discuss Lariat takes Danielson down to be whipped by Adam Page's belt. Jarrett comes into the ring to tell Page to stop. Page shoves him down. Jarrett then unveils a ref shirt. Surprise pin by Danielson gets a near fall. Deadeye on Danielson for a two count. Adam Page almost with a submission win but no it is reversed into a pinfall for Danielson. The winner of the 2024 Owen Cup is Bryan Danielson. I can see some shenanigans to make this a three way match at Wembley.
Swerve interrupts the celebration. Swerve's promo to me was bland. He says he is honored to face Danielson at Wembley but holds a grudge against him for a pin fall victory. Swerve promises that the All In Match will be Danielson's Final Countdown. Swerve did also say he will Captain the AEW team for Blood and Guts.
Chris Jericho comes out in a cowboy hat as he is in Calgary. Taz is not in the arena due to the executive order from last week. I can see this match going to outside the building and Taz being involved. Joe punches Jericho from behind the hat. The action quickly goes outside the ring and Chris Jericho grabs weapons. Jericho pulls horseshoes out from under the ring. If i was using horseshoes in a match I would use them as brass knuckles and not like tacs which is how they are being used here. What is up with that logic? Tony Schiavone gets my logic. Samoa Joe was in the Walls of Jericho for a really long time. Samoa Joe is beating Jericho as they head to the backstage area. Jericho threw "hot" coffee into the face of Samoa Joe. Big Bill saves Jericho from a Rear Naked Choke. Jericho used the belt that was gifted to him to punch Joe. Big Bill and Bryan Keith beat down on Joe and put him on a pallet. Jericho runs the pallet into a wall using a forklift. The match is stopped for medical reasons. Jericho wins.
Fletcher seems to be the odd man out in this fight. He si taking on all three men before dropped by Ishii. Claudio and Ishii then square off before Kyle Fletcher isnerts himself again just to be thrown out of the ring. I don't know if this match is short on time or just meant to be face paced but all guys keep hitting high impact spots. Kletcher with a hell of a sale on the poisonrana. Kyle Fletcher almost beat Ishii. Claudio with the big swing into a sharpshooter. Pac piles on with a brutalizer to Fletcher. Ishii gets Claudio to break his hold before getting Pac to do the same. Ishii almost wins. Kyle Fletcher almost steals the win with an inside cradle. Black Arrow into a brutalizer gets PAC the win as Kyle Fletcher taps out.
Things area brewing with The Elite. Check out this video:
Mercedes Mone is getting a mixes reaction tonight. This seems to be a redo of her interrupted title celebration from last week. Her stealing of Bret Hart's catch phrase draws boos. She feels really fake when she tries to draw heat like that. Her mouthing Britt Baker DMD is a more authentic sounding heat missel. DMD does not let that threat stand long. Britt thrust kicks and takes out the security as Mone runs away. Best segement from Mone in my opinion.
This final is starting very different from the men's final. Slow and technical is this pace. Both have decent stories for whomever wins. If Willow wins she will have won the tournament 66% of the times it has been held. Mariah May winning would pit her against her mentor. Toni Storm looks worried as Mariah May is laid out on the floor. Willow is dominating Mariah May. May gets a near fall off a DDT. I don't think it predicts the winner but May like Bryan Danielson is wearing Pink and Black. Fisherman's Bomb almost puts May away. Stokely and Kris Statlander interfere in the match. This almost gets Mariah May the victory. Mariah May wins the Owen Cup Female Tournament with an unexpected sunset flip into pin. Another British wrestler has punched their ticket to Wembley. May beats Toni Storm and Luther with the Owen Cup Belt. Toni Storm is bleeding. Storm did not watch out for the shoe. What and ending!
As we await Dynamite 250 lets rewatch the Acclaimed new video.
