Curt Hennig runs into a storm when The Texas Tornado sweeps the WWF Intercontinental Championship away from him at Summer Slam 1990.

After years of wrestling in his father's Dallas-based World Class Wrestling Association, Kerry Von Erich finally ventured north, to continue his meteoric career with the World Wrestling Federation. After leaving Texas, he was re-christened by Vince McMahon as 'The Texas Tornado', although his real name and pedigree were often mentioned on the promotion's television shows (a practice that was fairly uncommon for the WWF at the time).

As a former NWA Champion and a member of a vaunted wrestling family, it wouldn't be long before Kerry Von Erich found success in his new surroundings. He defeated 'Mr Perfect' Curt Hennig at Summer Slam 1990 at the legendary Philadelphia Spectrum to win the Intercontinental Championship. Von Erich would hold the gold for three months before losing it back to Perfect.
