After his brief appearance in the 25-man battle royal on June 18th, Joe Hendry made his return to WWE NXT in the main event of last night’s episode of NXT.
Following several teases on this episode alone, as well as the very end of WWE NXT: Heatwave 2024, Joe Hendry was the surprise tag team partner of Trick Williams to face the new NXT World Champion Ethan Page and Shawn Spears.
Earlier in the night, a tag team match had been settled that would have featured Je’Von Evans teaming with Trick Williams. However, Je’Von Evans was attacked backstage by Brooks Jensen, making him medically unable to compete and forcing Trick Williams to find a new partner. Though no backstage segments were shown to set up Joe Hendry, it ultimately didn’t matter, as the crowd popped huge for the TNA Wrestling superstar.
Joe Hendry scored the winning pinfall over Shawn Spears after Oro Mensah attacked and chased off Ethan Page, allowing the match to become a two-on-one affair.
