Backstage AEW Reaction To Adam Copeland's Injury

As many had feared, AEW's Adam Copeland suffered an injury at Double or Nothing this past weekend, with the superstar himself taking to social media yesterday to confirm that he's unfortunately fractured his tibia and will require surgery.

For those who may have missed Double or Nothing, Adam Copeland's barbed wire steel cage match against Malakai Black saw the Canadian leap from the top of the cage to the mat, landing straight down on his feet in an awkward fashion.

Following up on this, PWInsider notes that there is "universal sadness" from AEW talent and staff at Adam Copeland's injury and subsequent absence. While the former Edge noted how he doesn't know how long he'll be out of action, what is known is that his absence will cause the TNT Championship to be vacated.

Sources PWInsider spoke to detailed how Adam Copeland has become a great mentor behind the scenes in AEW and is a sounding board for talents to bounce ideas off. As such, it's felt like there will be a notable void backstage while the WWE Hall of Famer is forced to wait on the sidelines to undergo surgery and then deal with his road to recovery.

On a side note, PWInsider also reports that Adam Copeland nowadays owns the rights and trademarks for "The Brood", which is of course the name of the faction he, Gangrel, and Christian were in for a relatively brief spell in the late-'90s. While the group and their all-timer of an entrance certainly made a lasting impression on wrestling fans, The Brood were only technically together from October 1998 through until June 1999. Either way, the fondness for that trio and their presentation means the faction is still talked about to this day, with Gangrel even appearing at Double or Nothing to help Adam Copeland even the odds against House of Black.
