AEW Holiday Bash 2024

As the year winds down the action pics up tonight with AWE Holiday Bash.

The opening contest kicked off with a title match to show how momentous this night can be. Anna starts out with the small advantage. Mone hits the Three Amigos early early in the night. Mpne does miss the Frog Splash. A straight jacket backstabber was innovative from Mercedes Mone, at least I don't recall seeing yet alone one where the one giving it jumps from the top rope. Anna Jay kicked out of a Meteora. Anna after an impressive series of moves hits a Gorry Buster. Mone grabs the ropes with her hand to keep alive. Also that is the third Guererro homage so far in this match. Anna hooks on the Queenslayer. Mone bits Anna Jay to escape. Mercedes then secures a Statement Maker. Anna with a rope break. Sunset bomb and a double knee to Anna in the corner. Mercedes then wins with the Money Maker in the center of the ring.

MJF got Santa chants. Ok. Nice marketing ploy and way to insert the QR code for World's End. Cole did pull the pre-taped video so he can attack tactic nice as it hasn't been used recently.

Nick and Hook start it out. Doing the technical route which favors Hook. Shibata and Cage get in. When the two veterans lock up they shove each other into the corner. Hook would launch Christian over the top onto Nick Wayne. This set up Shibata for a dive but no. Shibata does not want to go out for a two on him attack. Hook almost gets Red Rum on but no he was in the ropes. Cage then pulls on the injured arm as Cage jumps to the floor. Shibata hooks in an arm bar on the left arm of Nick Wayne who reaches the bottom rope for the break. Nick Wayne would have gone out to a Sleeper from Shibata if not for the help of Kip Sabian. Christian also hit a Killswitch. Your winners Nick Wayne and Christian Cage.

Shelton with a go behind. Beast Mortos fights out. Benjamin is looking like the beast here by tossing Mortos with ease. Mortos uses his Lucha skills to evade and take down Shelton Benjamin. Mortos tries to take out the leg of Benjamin. Mortos walks the ropes but Shelton Benjamin causes him to land on his Rocky Mountain Oysters. This slows the big Mortos down. Mortos recovers from the rope between the legs and almost gets the win. Mortos hits a head put then a spinning face plant. Mortos follows that up with a cartwheel move off the top and only gets a 2 count. Benjamin gets back up and delivers a single arm power slammed. Mortos just stands back up. This does not last long as Shelton Benjamin hits a super kick before a series of German Supplex. Shelton picks up 3 points in the Continental Classic.

Briscoe and Daniel Garica come down after the match. They are no threat to the Hurt Syndicate. Benjamin holds up the TNT title for a brief moment before laying it across the TNT Champion Daniel Garcia.

Very interesting segment from Toni Storm and RJ City. She is acting like she is brand new to the company. It will be interesting to see where she goes with this character.

In this first time ever match the two men battle for 3 points in the Continental Classic. I am digging Ospreay's black attire. Slow Start as they circle each other. Exclibur gives the audience a few numbers. Darby can only make 12 points total in this tournament; Ospreay can get 15. Now that they two men are getting at it the match is going at a lightning fast paced. A massive back elbow sends Darby crashing to the floor. Darby recovers but not for long as he would hurt himself by missing a Coffin Drop onto the apron. A series of reversals with more flips than a gymnast during a floor routine and Darby hits a stunner. Code Red Reversed by Darby but Darby gets hit by a hidden blade. A near fall after Darby turns a Stormbreaker into a Code Red. Darby hits a Coffin Drop and only gets a 2 count. A Styles Clash from the Apron to the floor. Ospreay hurts his knee. I do not recall AJ Styles even doing a Styles Clash from the apron to the floor. Surprisingly Darby Allin wins off a Coffin Drop.

From the start of the night you can tell that Hangman Adam Page would be the downfall of his side of the trios team. Orange Cassidy starts off with a fiery attack to Wheeler Yuta. Orange Cassidy costs himself by trying to deliver a Orange Punch to Mox. Mox gets tagged in. Gotch Piledriver attempted by Mox but Cassidy turns it into a back body drop. Hangman gets in and Mox runs. Hangman does use his anger to take out the Death Riders. Marina Shafir distracts Hangman. Yuta almost delivers a Death Valley Driver. Jay White tags himself in while Hangman was trying to get Mox to tag in. Hangman walks to the back. Mox almost walks into a Blade Runner. It is now all Death Riders. Jay White attempts to fight back but not much can be done when the numbers are against them like that. Jay White makes some space but has no one to tag so he can get a reprieve. PAC with a slingshot cutter. Cutthroat Supplex gave Jay White a brief offensive before Claudio caused Jay to stop. Orange Cassidy is finally back up. Tag from Jay. Orange comes in and delivers his slow kicks to Mox. Orange then hits a DDT. Yuta tagged in. Yuta blocks a Slum Dog Millionaire. Mox comes from behind and tries a Paradigm shift. No good. Hangman returns to attack Mox. Hangman hits a Buckshot on Yuta. Blade Runner to PAC. While Jay White and Adam Page are arguing, Mox steals a victory.

Death Riders circle the ring. A brawl breaks out and Mox and Shafir head to the back. Orange Cassidy, Jay White, and Adam Page stand victorious.
