3 HOURS OF AEW? AGAIN? HELL YEAH - AEW COLLISION AND RAMPAGE REVIEW 18/05

Welcome guys to this weeks edition of Collision and Rampage. Another three hours of action so lets kick things off with our opening match.

Match one Will Ospreay vs. Shane Taylor

Ospreay dropkicks him to the floor to start and takes Taylor down with a dive, followed by a springboard back inside. Taylor hits a hard shoulder to knock Ospreay down. Ospreay to the outside followed by Taylor.  Ospreay manages to avoid the clothesline on the outside and sends Taylor into the undisputed kingdom sitting at commentary. Ogogo uses the distraction to hit a punch into the stomach.

Ospreay hits a handspring kick to the head to stagger Taylor, setting up a top rope shot to the back of the head. The Hidden Blade is blocked and Taylor’s running splash gets two. A strong clothesline gives Taylor the same and he blocks the Oscutter, setting up a Marcus Garvey Driver for two more. The package piledriver is blocked so Taylor goes up, only to get caught with the Cheeky Nandos Kick. The Storm Driver follows and this one is all over.

Here is your winner: Will Ospreay

I would say this is the match im most looking forward to at double or nothing. Im really intrigued how they finish this one. Ospreay does not need to win the title but I also cant see him losing this. As for this match, great opening match. Ospreay looked great as always and Shane Taylor did exactly what he needed to do.

Match two Hook vs. Johnny TV

This is a qualifying match for a triple threat match for a future FTW Title shot. Hook takes down Johnny TV to start and goes for the arm but a rollup gets two. A suplex and clothesline put Johnny TV down and Hook counters a high kick into another suplex. Taya’s distraction lets Johnny TV hit the Flying Chuck but Starship Pain misses, allowing Hook to grab Redrum and Johnny TV has no choice but to tap.

Here is your winner: Hook

No shocks here. Was a quick match and that’s all it needed. I love how they are making the FTW seem something important and giving it time on TV.

Match three Katsuyori Shibata vs. Rocky Romero

Another FTW qualifying match. They go technical to start with Shibata grabbing the arm before switching into a Figure Four. That’s broken up so Romero grabs an Octopus, which is reversed into another Figure Four. Romero is out again and grabs a tornado DDT.

Romero kick to the arm, with Shibata calling for me. Shibata chops away but Romero ties him in the ropes for a middle rope dropkick. Sliced Bread doesn’t work for Romero, who comes up favoring his leg, meaning Shibata can grab a kneebar. Romero makes the rope. Shibata replies with a suplex for two. Shibata locks in the Figure Four and theres the tap.

Here is your winner: Shibata

No shocks here. Shibata heads to the triple threat match.

Match four Bryan Keith vs Boulder

This is the final FTW qualifying match and the most random match ive seen. Keith gets knocked into the corner to start but slips out of a slam and kicks away at the leg. Jameson offers a distraction but Keith uses it to send Bronson into Boulder. Diamond Dust finishes Bronson.

Here is your winner: Bryan Keith

Please someone explain to me what the point of this match was cos I have absolutely no idea.

Match five Orange Cassidy vs. Isiah Kassidy

The battle of the Cassidys. Lets do this. Orange flips around to start and they go to the mat, with Orange grabbing a quickly broken surfboard. Isiah avoids the Orange Punch so Orange hits a suicide dive as Don Callis is watching in the back. There’s the running dropkick against the barricade and here is Trent Beretta in the crowd. The distraction lets Isiah get in a whip to the barricade, setting up a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.

Orange counters a piledriver attempt on the steps. They get back in where Stundog Millionaire and the spinning DDT plant Isiah. Both of them head to the apron where Orange kicks him out to the floor. Another Beretta distraction lets Isiah get in a cheap shot, allowing him to use the referee for the Silly String. Orange pops up and hits the Beach Break for the 3 count.

Here is your winner: Orange Cassidy

The former best friends feud continues. Don Callis involvement gives this more drama and im here for it. expect this match to be announced for double or nothing.

Match six Serena Deeb vs. Anna Jay

Deeb starts fast and elbows away, setting up a swinging neckbreaker for two. Jay gets tied up in a Paradise Lock for the running dropkick. Back up and Jay snaps off a northern lights suplex, only to get a neckbreaker over the middle rope. Jay fights out of an abdominal stretch and grabbing a Downward Spiral for two. Deeb ties her in the ropes for a dragon screw legwhip, followed by a hammerlock lariat for two. The Queenslayer goes on out of nowhere and Deeb has to flip out. A faceplant into the Serenity Lock and Jay has to tap.

Here is your winner: Serena Deeb

Continue to make Deeb look strong and sacrifice her to Toni Storm. Weve been here before so many times. No one believes Deeb will beat Storm.

Match seven Nick Wayne vs. Jack Cartwheel

Wayne jumps him to start and stomps away but Cartwheel fights back up. Cartwheel sends him outside, where Wayne avoids the dive. Wayne's World connects but Wayne doesn’t go for the pin. Instead he connects with a house call and this one is all over.

Here is your winner: Nick Wayne

House call finisher was a nice move. Message sent to Swerve. Love that

Match eight FTR/Bryan Danielson vs. Righteous/Lance Archer

Harwood and Vincent fight over a lockup to start, with the latter whipping him hard into the corner. That’s broken up and Harwood snaps off a suplex before a double slam gives Wheeler two. It’s off to Dutch so Wheeler snaps off some jabs, allowing Harwood to come back in for a Russian legsweep.

The fans want Danielson as everything breaks down as all men brawl. Harwood fighting out of a chinlock but Vincent drops him again. Harwood sends Archer into the corner and avoids Dutch’s elbow drop, allowing the tag back to Danielson to start cleaning house. Dutch gets low bridged to the floor and the suicide dive connects. Everything breaks down and Archer has to save Dutch from the LeBell Lock.

Autumn Sunshine gets two, with Wheeler having to make the save. Vincent gets PowerPlexed but Danielson has to break up the Blackout. That leaves Vincent to walk into the Shatter Machine and this one is all over.

Here is your winner: FTR and Bryan Danielson

This was the best match on the show and that shouldn’t be a big surprise given the talent involved. Danielson can make anything work and FTR is the best team in the company. Commentary kept talking about how Archer and the Righteous were doing this for the Elite. So looks like we know what side in this fight these three are on. Were certainly heading into a war and I love it.

An interesting episode of Collision this week. No real impact on Double or Nothing and was more about the FTW title. Very interesting. But don’t go anywhere, its now time for Rampage.

MATCH 1: KYLE O’REILLY VS LEE MORIARTY

Excellent lockup exchange and reversal. Both men come to a stalemate and return to a vertical base to reset things. Lee hits a leg trip before Reilly reverses. Lee tries for a wristlock as Reilly reverses with an armbar. Reilly tries for a cover attempt, but it’s a near fall. Lee hits Reilly in the face before the two trade-offs strike.

Lee has a nice side headlock applied before Reilly gets out of it and delivers his trademark kicks before transitioning to a leglock. Lee manages to grab the ropes for the break. Reilly returns to kicking low at Lee’s legs. Reilly catches him with a knee to the chin as Lee snaps Reilly’s fingers, followed by a running straight kick for the near fall. Lee tries for the border city stretch. Reilly picks him up and hits a backdrop as Lee lands on the back of his head. Both men are trading kicks. Both end up going down to the applause of the crowd. Reilly hits a hammerlock with a triangle choke but settles for a punt to the head as Reilly locks in the arm bar and Moriarty has no choice but to tap.

Here is your Winner: Kyle O’Reilly

O’Reilly continues to look great. Feel like he needs to get into a storyline now though. He needs a purpose or he will get lost amongst this roster.

MATCH 2: RUSH VS CODY CHHUN

Chhun misses a body splash as RUSH floors him before hitting him with a John Woo dropkick for the victory.

Here is your Winner: RUSH

Same story everytime a wrestler returns. Quick squash. Boring now.

MATCH 3: DEONNA PURRAZZO VS ROBIN RENEGADE

Deonna with a wristlock takedown followed with a rollup for a two-count. Purrazzo hits an armlock takedown before transitioning into a modified armbar. Deonna follows up with a fujiwar kitamai submission but Robin makes it to the ropes. Robin with a flurry of offense. Knee lift to the face and a dropkick to Deonna while she’s between the ropes. A pin attempt is made as Deonna barely kicks out. Deonna is sent into the ropes as she hits a pump kick, followed by an armbar and Renegade has to tap.

Here is your Winner: Deonna Purrazzo

Robin Renegade is coming along, but I never believed for one second she was beating Purrazzo. It was a decent match for what it was worth, but for me, this was all about Deonna and Rosa.

MATCH 4: BRIAN CAGE VS ANTHONY BOWENS

Bowens hits a DDT as he goes for the cover. Bowens tries to pick up Cage as he counters with a one-handed slam. Bowens is now in the corner as Cage hits a solid slap to the chest, followed by an Irish whip and a side slam. Cage misses an attack in the corner as Bowens takes the big man down with a dragon screw. Bowens tries for a kick outside the ring while on the side apron.

Cage catches up and sends him flying into the steel post! It’s a fantastic spot as we head into our final commercials. We are back as Cage catches Bowens from the top rope! Bowens ends up rolling him up for a near fall. Bowens hits a chop and superkick after an excellent series of reversals from the ropes. Bowens hits the fameasser for a kick out! Bowens hits a DDT on Cage from between the ropes. Cage pushes Bowens into the steel post as he hits an avalanche superplex for the kickout! Cage hits a clothesline as Bowens comes back with a pump kick. Another cover attempt is made as Cage kicks out. Bowens is sent into the referee as Cage hits a low blow on Bowens, followed by the drill claw for the win.

Here is your Winner: Brian Cage

Interesting main event. Never really see Bowens in singles action and he done well. I just cant get behind Cage. The guy is flawless in the ring. Can beat anyone and literally beats everyone until he comes up against a top guy in AEW and loses the big one. Just seems so pointless.

This was an interesting three hours of wrestling. Lots of matches but not a lot happened. It wasn’t a bad three hours but then wasn’t anything that will live long in the memory. Thanks for joining me this week guys
