WWE to allow their stars to use third party sites in major U-turn
Another twist on the story...
In a major development, it has been reported that WWE chairman Vince Mcmahon has made a u-turn on his decision regarding not allowing WWE superstars to appear on third party sites such as Twitch and Youtube, which came about last weekend.
It has been reported today that Mr Mcmahon is now allowing WWE superstars to appear on the third party platforms.
This comes a shock to those who were told they wouldn't be allowed to appear on them.
It has also been reported that he's also allowed them to use their real names rather than their stage names. However it is unclear on the companies standing on superstars appearing on the site "Cameo"
As reported by the wrestling observer and backed up by fightful.com
Here is a statement by wwe:
"Much like Disney and Warner Bros, WWE, creates, promotes, invests in its intellectual property, i.e the stage names of performers like The Fiend Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Big E and Braun Strowman. It is the control and exploitation of these characters that allows WWE to drive revenue, which in turn enables the company to compensate performers at the highest levels in the sports entertainment industry. Notwithstanding the contractual language, it is imperative for the success of our company to protect our greatest assets and establish partnerships with third parties on a companywide basis, rather than at the individual level, which as a result will provide more value for all involved"
This is certainly an unusual u-turn made by the CEO of WWE, but in the coming weeks, there's sure to be more announcements to follow this.
