IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has issued a challenge to CM Punk for the championship!
Could this be what tempts the Best in the World out of retirement?
Newly crowned IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospraey has challenged former WWE champion, CM Punk, to a title match.
The history making Ospreay, who won the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship this weekend has issued a challenge to CM Punk. During a press conference, Ospreay had turned his attention to Punk.
Here's what he had to say:
"Before I was champion, a man who sparked a whole lot of interest in pro-wrestling, CM Punk said he’d like to face Will Ospreay," the new champion recalled. "If you really want to prove you were the best in the world and not the best of a bad bunch, come over here and try and take this."
While making an appearance on Swings and Mrs, Punk had made an admission that Ospreay is one of the few stars he'd yet to face inside the squared circle, and could potentially entice him to get back into the ring.
Here's what Punk said:
"For people I haven’t ever wrestled before? I think Will Ospreay... I would listen to your idea,"
He added that this wasn't just up to him or Ospreay, and that it's up to the people who run the companies and that would be NJPW.
"Nobody, I think, has found the right combination of ways to approach me." Added Punk. This would imply that Punk has been approached about an in ring return. It could be possible that if NJPW and Ospreay could find a way to figure something out, maybe we could see the match happen.
