Impact Wrestling announce memorial match for Daffney
Impact Wrestling have announced that they will bring back their all womens PPV Knockouts Knockdown. The all womens PPV occured for the first time in 2017 as part of their One Night Only series. The event will take place at Skywood Studios in Nashville, Tennessee and is set to air on October 9th.
A Monsters Ball match will take place in honour of Daffney, who tragically lost her life on September 1st. These matches are basically like hardcore street fights and Daffney made history by competing in the first all Womens Monsters Ball match.
This decision is somewhat controversial as Daffney suffered a severe concussion during this match type which is speculated to perhaps have contributed towards her difficulties later in life. Daffney had also previously sued Impact Wrestling for putting her in an unsafe working environment, after a dark match against Rosie Lottalove, left her with a bruised sternum, a severe stinger and another concussion.
Personally, I am glad to see a match taking place to honour her memory but I am not convinced they had to make it a Monsters Ball match. If it had been up to me I think I would have put on the all womens PPV to honour her memory and opened the door to any female wrestlers who wanted to compete.
