As reported by Fightful Select, Daniel Bryan's contract with WWE could have possibly expired after his Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns on this past friday's episode of SmackDown, with the loser leaving town. The report was written in such a way that indicated and stresses that "inside and outside of WWE" sources claim that Bryan's contract was due to expire.

It's unknown if Bryan is leaving the company or not, or if he will still stay with the company and not be under contract. The report also stated that there was no word of any farewells to anyone behind the scenes or backstage, although it doesn't necessarily mean they they didn't happen in private.

Bryan was to leave SmackDown as a result of losing the title match and has since been removed from the active roster on the WWE website and has moved the to the Alumni section on the site.

He'd recently appeared on TV Line and spoke about being surprised that many fans had noted September as the month his contract would expire, however he noted that was when his last contract had expired, but this one doesn't. TV Line had went on to note that he was "tight lipped" on when his contract would actually expire.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling News Observer would back up the claims of Bryan's contract expiration and that it indeed did end on May 1st. He'd also go on to say that "WWE are pushing hard for him to sign a new deal"
