In case you have been living under a rock the last week, WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahonj has stepped down from both of his positions in the company due to a report from the Wall Street Joournal naming him in an internal investigation being conducted regarding an alleged affair and an alleged $3 Million cover up that followed. While Vince has stepped down from both positions he is not the only person to be affected by this investigation. It is being reported that John Laurinaitis has also stepped down from his position as Head of Talent Relations as a result of the accusations and the resulting investigation.
As reported by PWInsider, WWE Senior Vice President, Bruce Pritchard has been named as the interim Head of Talent Relations, a decision that has not been met favourably by many backstage within WWE. Both Fightful Select and Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer have reported that talent aren’t exactly happy to have Pritchard take on the role, even if it is only in an interim capacity. Fightful has even reported that one source joked that “Vince only knows three people” in reference to McMahon giving Pritchard and Laurinaitis several roles within the company despite commanding a very large team.
Dave Meltzer said the following on Wrestling Observer Radio;
“A lot of talent are not particularly thrilled by it” and the decision was “not necessarily well-received”.
Fightful Select have noted that the unanimous feeling backstage at the moment is that Laurinaitis won’t be returning to his position and that he is “as good as gone” from the company with several people backstage even celebrating this fact.
