Adams All Elite Assessment! 11th July 2022

Hey guys, Adam here, I'm back! I do apologise, but I was released for a while so didn’t get chance to do my reviews for AEW, and for that I apologise. But I'm now re-hired and back to it weekly, I promise!

So, I haven't been watching DARK and DARK: ELEVATION for that long, but it is actually growing on me quite a lot. Yeah, apart from the odd match, you don’t get the high quality matches you get on DYNAMITE or RAMPAGE, let alone a PPV, but for the lower-level talent mainly of the roster its good quality matches. Especially since its free to watch on YouTube. If you haven't yet checked either of them out, I Highly recommend doing so. Think of them as the old school WWE Heat

AEW DYNAMITE 6/7/22

I'm looking forward to this episode of DYNAMITE, so lets get right in to it shall we?

IS IT FINALLY WARDLOW’S TIME?

So, surprisingly, the first match of the night is a street fight between Wardlow and Scorpio Sky for the TNT Championship. But unsurprisingly, Sky has American Top Team and Dan Lambert at ringside. Sky goes right for Wardlow using his MMA style background to try and gain an early upper hand, but Warlow used his power to counter him. Sky hits a low Blow early on to Wardlow, but Wardlow doesn't seem TOO phased by this as he hits a big spinebuster on Sky before launching him across the ring from the corner, leaving Sky rolling out the ring. Wardlow follows Sky out of the ring and goes straight for him, but American Top Team and Dan Lamber get involved and start beating down on Wardlow on the mat as we go to an ad break.

As we come back from the break, we see Wardlow coming back from the onslaught of Sky in the ad break. Wardlow goes for a shoulder tackle into the corner but Sky moves out the way. Both men end up going up to the top rope and Sky gets pushed down by Wadlow, and he follows this up with a Swanton Bomb, but doesn’t go for a cover. Wardlow goes to hit the powerbomb symphony on Sky, but ATT enter the ring to stop him doing so, but Wardlow takes them all out. Off the distraction, sky manages to grab the TNT championship and hit Wardlow in the head with it and goes for a cover, but Wardlow kicks out at 2. Frustrated, Sky picks up Wardlow and goes for the TKO, but Wardlow counters it and pushes Sky to the ropes, knocking Dan Lamber off the ring apron before hitting a spinebuster on Sky. Wardlow lowers his straps and hits the powerbomb symphony on Sky for a total of 3 times, places one foot on Sky and we have a NNEEEWWWWWWW TNT CHAMPIONNNNN WWWAAARRDDDDLLOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

Now, for the bad part. This match was shite. Honestly. If it wasn’t for it being a title change, I wouldn’t have written the review. I am so happy for the result, it was a needed result in my honest opinion, and Wardlow definitely deserves it. But it comes off the back of a poor match unfortunately.

NEW BIGGEST HEEL IN PRO WRESTLING?

Next, we see Christian Cage and Luchasaurus coming out to the ring to cut a promo.

Cage: “So here we are on the heels of Blood & Guts and I am the “Cage” that everybody is talking about. You ignorant people are demanding answers, wanting to know why Luchasaurus decided to remain aligned with me.”

Matt Hardy’s music begins to play and Matt walked out onto the ramp

Hardy: “Christian Cage, you are unreal. I’ll be honest, Jungle Boy was my friend. Jungle Boy trusted you. He respected you. And you screwed him over. He didn’t deserve that.”

Cage: “You’re going to sit here and pretend all of a sudden, you’re buddy-buddy with Jungle Boy. You’re starting to make your brother sound like the sober one.”

Hardy: “I see what you’re doing with Luchasaurus. You want to use him to make as much big money as you can. Hey, I’m not going to be a hypocrite. I did the same with Private Party and Butcher and the Blade, and I regret that. And the last month of my life has been a mess, but I’m out here right now to make sure no one else gets taken advantage of.”

Cage: “You’re out here because you’re a clout chaser, Matt Hardy. You’ll use your kids, your wife, your father-in-law, you’ll even turn a blind eye to your brother just so you can have one last run. I am the hottest, most influential star in AEW, and you just wanted to be near me. Your brother isn’t even the most embarrassing thing to your family—you are!”

(this is all paraphrased guys. It was too hard to type it all out)

Luchasaurus begins to assault Matt Hardy, launching him into the steel ring steps. Matt Hardy tries to fight back but Luchasaurus boots Hardy’s head against the ring post. Luchasaurus choke slammed Matt Hardy through the time keeper’s table, leaving him laid out whilst Cage chats rubbish to him.

This was an amazing heel promo and Cristian could honestly be my new favourite heel in pro wrestling. He just keeps going in deeper and deeper with the digs which I love.

Now for the next match. We have The Butcher & The Blade Vs Keith Lee and Swerve Strikland. I hate to say this, because I love Lee and Swerver, but this match wasn’t great. What I would describe as a piss break match. It’s a shame because these guys can but on some great matches. Keith Lee and Swerver get the victory via pinfall.

Post-match, Powerhouse Hobbs and Sicky Starks come out onto the ramp, with a mic in hand.

Starks: “You two want to act like you’re somebody. You two are not on our level. You are several levels below us. Here’s the deal. You want to talk about who the best tag team is?”

As soon as he says this, The Young Bucks come out onto the ramp!

Matt Jackson: “Hey guys, great match! This tag division is on fire. Everyone is eating well. But let us not forget who set the damn table in the first place.”

Nick Jackson: “You two teams are very good. At DOUBLE OR NOTHING, you two had a hell of a match. Four and a half stars. You couldn’t get the job done, though. Jurassic Express beat you, and guess who beat them?”

Matt Jackson: “How about next week, a three-way tag team title match?

Now that match should hopefully be a corker. I have a theory cooked up in my head which I think will happen regarding the tag titles, and I really hope it comes true.

Up next, we see Eddie Kingston being interviewed in the ring by Tony Schiavone.

Kingston: “Before we get to Jericho…Wardlow, congratulations. Number 2, congratulations to everybody on the team who won Blood & Guts, even you Claudio”

“here’s the real deal why I'm out here. Chris Jericho, you made me a liar. I didn’t taste your blood. You didn’t bleed, so I'm going to get you again”

Chris Jericho came on the screen and was backstage with the Jericho Appreciation Society in front of an SUV

Jericho: “Kingston, you want to taste my blood? You wanna get crazy with me? Let me show you how crazy I can get!”

The camera pans around and Ruby Soho is lent up against the SUV, clearly been beaten up. As she pulls herself up, Tay Conti kicks the SUV’s door closed straight onto Soho’s arm! The JAS run off as medical attention attends to Soho on the floor.

This is going to another feud, obviously. And one this im hoping to see, is with the inclusion of Tay Conti into the JAS, I really want Ruby Soho to be the first female member of the Blackpool Combat Club. I Think it would be great to see.

The Dark Order comes out to the ring

The fans chant “Brodie! Brodie! Brodie” This will NEVER get old

John Silver: “The Dark Order is in Rochester and Rochester is Dark Order country”

Evil Uno: “We have very important news and it’s important that all of you hear it. Every single one of you is who made Dark Order what it is today. I want to thank all of you for showing up and supporting us. The six of us are here to stay! Dark Order is forever! We begin a new chapter and a new chapter begins with a proclamation, and I think I know just the person to say it...”

Negative One takes the microphone but he was interrupted by QT Marshall

Marshall: “alright alright, seriously? I get it kid, your dad is from Rochester. But you aint your father. Your dad is a legend but you take after your mother. I didn’t bring my friends out here Negative One. So let’s face each other man to man.”

Hangman Adam Page’s music hit and Page walked to send QT into the ring. The Dark Order whooped QT Marshall’s ass between them all. Negative one steps up onto the ring apron with a mic...

Negative One: “QT, I would pin you right now, but I’m going wait until I’m 18.”

This was brilliant and I really hope negative one becomes a pro wrestler.

WILL HE KEEP HIS MASK THIS TIME?

Next match of the night, we have Penta Oscuro vs. Rush. both men traded chops with one another in the middle of the ring. Penta hits Rush with a thrust kick making him exit the ring. Outside the ring, Penta used an arm drag to take down Rush. The action heads back into the ring, and Rush hits Penta with a big elbow strike. Rush tried to rip off Penta mask again, but Penta counters with a sling blade, and followed up with a suicide dive to the outside. Alex Abrahantes spears Jose to stop him from hitting Penta with the table and the action just breaks down outside the ring as we head off to an ad break.

As we come back from the break, we see Penta trying to come back from rush’s assault. Rush ducks a forearm strike from Penta, and follows up with a German Suplex, then a powerslam into a cover, but Penta kicks out at 2. Penta manages to come back with a back-stabber into a cover, but Rush kicks out at 2. both men aggressively start trading chops, headbutts and kicks with each other, and both men go down to the mat after a leaping knee strike by Rush. Rush climbs to the top turnbuckle and hits Penta with a big Missile dropkick. He follows up with a senton from the top into a cover, but Penta kicks out at 2. Penta manages to come back with a cutter to Rush. he followed this up with a thrust kick and then with the Fear Factor into a cover, but Andrade El Idolo grabbed Rush’s foot and put it on the ropes to stop the pin. As the ref was distracted by Andrade, Rush hit a low blow on Penta, ripped of his mask, and gets the pinfall victory over Penta!

This was a great match. You could definitely see that there is bad blood between these two guys. I can see a tag team feud heating up between these 4 men and it being really, really good.

Next up, unfortunately another boring match and segment. It's The Acclaimed & the Gunn Club vs. Fuego Del Sol & Ruffin It. The match itself was pointless and garbage. Post-match, Billy Gunn turned on The Acclaimed who he seems to have sided with last week over his own sons.

BEWRING UP A THUNDER STORM

Next match of the night, we have AEW Womens Champion Thunder Rosa & Toni Storm Vs Nyla Rose & Marina Shafir. Marina and Nyla went after Thunderstorm just as the bell rang. Toni took down Marina with a drop toehold and throws her into the corner. Thunder Rosa tags in and connects with body shots to Marina. Toni and Thunder Rosa use combination offense and finish with a dropkick on Marina Shafir for a near fall. Toni hits a German suplex on Marina before Thunder Rosa tags back in. Rosa and Marin begin to chain wrestle. Toni tags back in and hits a hip attack on Marina. Toni runs into the ropes but Nyla smashes her with an umbrella in the back while ref Rick Knox was dealing with Thunder Rosa and Nyla rose tags in as we head off to an ad break.

Back form the break, we see Rosa manage to get the tag and come in hot from the top rope with a cross body. she uses drop toehold on Nyla taking her down to the rope. Rosa hits Nyla in the jaw with a running dropkick and goes for a second one, but Nyla blocked it and then tags in Marina. Marina hits a big pump handle slam on Rosa into a cover, but Toni breaks up the attempt. Toni then hits a bid DDT on Nyla, and a German suplex on Marina. Toni follows up Marina with the running hip attack in the corner on Marina, allowing thunderstorm to hit Marina with a piledriver combo for the pin.

This was a short match, but a decent match. Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm, AKA Thunderstorm made a great tag team, and I can see them being great together.

ITS TIME FOR THE MAINNNNN EVENT!

Main even time now, and we have Interim AEW Champion Jon Moxley Vs Brody King and the Interim AEW Championship. The pair lock up, and King backed Moxley into the corner and chopped him hard sending Moxley to his knees. Moxley got right back up to his feet and started throwing forearms to King’s face but King throws him out the ring. King follows Moxley on the arena floor and around the ring. King charges at Moxley but Moxley dodges him making him go crashing into the steel steps. Moxley hits a Russian leg sweep onto King and pulls him around the ring, but King hits a backdrop on Moxley on the ramp then throws him over the timekeepers table and back into the ring. Moxley takes King off his feet with a dragon screw leg whip and then into a figure four leg lock. Moxley carries on working over King’s leg. King gets back on his feet and the pair trade punches in the middle of the ring, but King hits a Bossman Slam on Moxley into a cover, but Moxley kicks out at 2 as we go to an ad break.

As we come back from the break, where King had been dominating, we see King picking up Moxley off the mat, but Moxley escaped. King charges at Moxley with a cannonball senton into the corner but Moxley moved out of the way and both men are down. Moxley lifts King onto the top rope and starts scratching into Kings back then superplexed King and then applied the bulldog choke but King powers out quickly. King goes for a clothesline, but Moxley counters into a suplex and into a cover, but King kicks out at 2. Moxley grabs Kings arms and starts stomping away at King’s head. King manages to get back to his feet and hit a big lariat to Moxley and followed up with a piledriver into a cover, but Moxley kicks out at 2. King while standing on the turnbuckles, pulls Moxley up off the mat with a choke whilst climbing the turnbuckle and followed up with a cannonball senton into a cover, but Moxley kicks out at 2 again. Moxley manages to avoid a splash in the corner, and he hits King with the Paradigm Shift. Moxley starts dropping hammer and anvil elbows on King and put a chokehold on King, but King sat back and smashed all his weight on Moxley onto the mat. This didn’t seem to faze Moxley as he instantly held on with his bulldog choke and ref stopped the match giving Moxley the victory via submission!

This was a great match, and could have gone on for ages for me. I love seeing big men like Brody King in the ring who are really athletic and can move like him. And I love mox, because he is, well mox.

That’s all she wrote for DYNAMITE this week, and it was a hit and miss episode I thought. There was a lot of flat points and boring matches, but we can win them all I guess, can we?
